Frequently asked questions

How much does a domestic cleaner cost?

We aim to keep prices as keen as possible whilst also ensuring we can attract the best quality cleaners locally. Prices also typically vary depending on how often and how long you'd like your clean to be.

You can get an instant, online quote specific to your requirements by using our quoting/booking tool. Click here to get a quote now.

How will my cleaner access my home?

Most clients choose to provide their cleaner with a key and access details (such as any alarm codes etc).

Alternatively you can choose to arrange for your cleaner to visit while you are home so you can let them in yourself, or provide them with a code to a 'key safe' where they can retrieve the key on each visit.

Who provides the cleaning products?

Your cleaner will use your own cleaning products and equipment to clean your home. This prevents cross-contamination between clients and ensures that only products that you are happy with are used, and helps keep costs to a minimum.

Will I get the same cleaner each time?

Yes - we work with you to assign a cleaner that can fit your requested schedule and requirements. This cleaner will then visit on each of your regular clean visits to ensure

If your assigned cleaner is not available you can either postpone the visit or we can arrange a temporary alternative whilst they are away, if you prefer.

What checks are done on my cleaner?

All of our cleaners go through a comprehensive interview and vetting process. This includes references checks and DBC (formerly CRB) criminal record checks and test cleans before they are assigned to our clients.

We also monitor all cleaners' work and client feedback to ensure that excellent standards are maintained.

What services are included?

General cleaning typically involves cleaning of all rooms in the home including dusting, wiping woodwork and skirting boards as well as the usual hoovering, cleaning of bathrooms and your kitchen.

We also provide a cleaning checklist which allows you to highlight any specific areas you'd like to be cleaned (or left) in general or on a specific visit. This means your cleaner can be sure to cover the areas you'd like, whether or not you're at home when they visit.

How soon can my cleaner start?

We can usually have a cleaner start with you within a few days. When you make your online booking we'll give you a call to discuss the cleaner that will be suit your requirements and confirm when they can start.

Are there any hidden charges?

The price you'll see on our online quote and booking tool is the total price you'll pay per hour - there are no hidden extras.

What add-on services are available?

Add-on services can be added such as interior window cleaning, ironing, clearing and cleaning inside kitchen cupboards or putting away laundry.

You can request these extra services through our online quoting tool when making a booking, or directly with your cleaner. This can either be done as added time on top of your usual cleaning schedule or in place of the usual cleaning using the time you already have booked.

What if I need to change my cleaning visit?

You can initially speak to your cleaner to discuss and agree an alternative time or day that works for you both. You can also contact us for assistance in arranging this, or providing alternative cover if needed.

What if I want to cancel?

We don't believe in tying you into a long cancellation period. Our agreement with you is clean and simple and we just ask that you give us one month's notice if you'd like to cancel your regular clean.

Why should I book with One Less Thing?

Our service is designed to be easy and hassle-free. We're focused on making your life easier, taking cleaning 'off your list' and giving you more quality time.

Once you have filled out our online quote and booking we'll assign a vetted and insured cleaner that can deliver a great cleaning service. We carry out checks and test cleans to ensure the cleaners are vetted and work to a high standard.

All of our cleaners have passed our rigorous application process, performed at least one test clean and had their references and DBS (formerly CRB) criminal record checks.

Once your cleaner is assigned, we also provide local account management and are on hand in case you need any assistance or changes. We can provide a cleaner as cover for holidays which means you won't be missing cleans if your usual cleaner is away.

Our clients find our professional approach much quicker and easier than trying to find a cleaner themselves. After all - our service is about giving you One Less Thing to do.

Can I change my cleaner if I'm not happy?

Yes of course. We're happy to find you an alternative cleaner if necessary, whether this is for holiday cover or for any other reason.

How often will my cleaner visit?

Our online quoting and booking tool allows you to select either weekly or fortnightly (or one-off) visits.

We typically recommend weekly visits as being best to ensure a consistant and regularly cleaned home, however if you prefer fortnightly cleans then we can arrange this too.

Do you offer monthly cleaning?

We don't recommend or provide cleaners on a monthly basis, however we do provide fortnightly cleans. Just select this option on our online quoting and booking tool.
